While going through a corner of the storage area, I found a small number of original Peter Herbst Titanium handled, German made pieces.

These were rejects in that they were not up to our standards and could not be sold, even as 2nds. (2nds are usually acceptable quality with a some type of non safety issue defect).

We thought that rather than dump them, some might be interested in the pieces, knowing what they were. We spinewacked all of them and ended up with 137 that passed. The detents are not up to our standards and there are other minor defects as well. There is no warrantee on these. (They will be notched as 2nds).

Think of them as a "piece of Spyderco History". Not as an EDC.

They are $35 each + shipping and can be purchased through SFO.

well, not taking orders yet, knives will be at the sfo tomorrow (or sometime thereof, i'm told over the phone), woohoo, didn't miss out.

So, how do I order from SFO? Never done that before. Payment methods?

Or if another Canadian is ordering, maybe order one extra PE for me, and I'll MO you. ;)

Vess> I just emailed for a price(shipping and such)... will be sending MO asap when I get a reply.

Who knows, maybe we could trade for some custom work?

VW> If you get an extra one I'll definitely either pay you for it or make you a sheath for a Spydie of your choice or something. :)

I definately want one Sal! Please post more info or email me on how to acquire one.

ah, the beauty of email... patti has me on the list, and will let me know when they are shipping, just have to send payment.

I called mine in about 7.00 pm EST and they were there and ready.Mine being shipped tomarrow.

I got my orders around 12 minutes after they opened, my guess is they will all be gone before noon. for the 138 they have in stock, probably at least 70 people will place orders, and most will be for more than one.

now the question is, how do we get spyderco to do this more often?

did you place an order though? I couldn't wait, so I called in when they opened and ordered. about 8 minutes later, i get a call from Patty because my name is on the list, but if I had been lower on the list and haven't called in....well, let's just say the phones were ringing off the hook in the background (and according to Patty) about these knives, so having my name on the list was no sure bet because this deal was Good!

Just got mine. The liner lock engaged a little to far over on the tang but after tighting the pivot it locks up perfect.Looks great.Worth every penny. Thanks for makeing these avalable Sal.

Received my C53 yesterday. Looks good, works ok. Thanks Sal, it fills a void in my collection.

The brown van just left. I had to get a PS version since I noticed the thread a little late. DOH! You guys that had two or more PE knives being held, shame on you for not letting me get one first. The knife looks good allright. I think the spyderedge part is not nearly as deep as my other spydies and the edge isn't as scary sharp. Knowing it is a second may affect my impressions. I had also forgotten the blade was 440C.

Sal, thanks again for thinking of the forumites. The Herbst knife had always been on my wish list and now I have one for the collection.
