I have an old knife, ornamental. I never use it but it's been in the family for a while so I'd like to fix it up.
I don't know what kind of steel it is, but I believe it's fairly soft. It originally had a dull gray finish.
Over the years it's developed some surface rust and some scratch marks (probably from sandpaper or similar)
Does anyone know how I can get the rust off and smooth out the scratch marks? I'm willing to stain the blade if that will help hide pits, etc.
Thanks,
glem
