REKAT quality blah blah blah

I can understand someone who is dissatisfied with a knife for one reason or another, but let's face it, most complaints are in the opening/closing of a knife, if it is smooth/not smooth, the finish of the knife, if there are visible grind lines etc............

My experience with most folders is that the pivot plays a great role in how a knife will open. A looser pivot screw makes a knife feel more smooth, but allows the knife to wobble between the handle slabs, and a too tight pivot makes the knife unworkable. So...........a properly adjusted pivot screw is important. The pivot bearing is also important. Its composition and alignment need to be as true as possible. I have found that no matter what folder you use, repeated opening and closing will loosen the pivot, unless you maintain it. I carried and used a BM Emerson for more than 5 years and its pivot loosened. I carried and used a Crawford KFF for a year, and its pivot loosened. A knife that doesn't open or close properly probably need the pivot to be serviced. It could be too tight, too loose, but servicing the pivot is something that may need to be done, even if the knife is new from the factory. No big deal. Everyone has different preferences.

As for the REKAT lock, I really like the strength and ergonomics of the design, especially with the slider. I carry and use daily, a Pioneer II Tanto and it is a great knife. The edge geometry is good, the handle design is comfortable, especially for a smaller knife, and it opens and closes good. Is it a good quality knife? Of course it is. What I like about it is that it doesn't pretend to be anything it isn't and it does its job just fine. As far as finish, what do you want? Benchmade and Spyderco may have smoother edges, but the materials are similar. G-10 is G-10. If you want to buy "pretty knives" spend a lot more and get a custom handmade. I think with REKAT, you get what you pay for; a no nonsense cutting tool.

My Pioneer loosens up a lot faster than my other folders. Has to be tightened at least once a week. The screws holding the scales / liners also tend to loosen. When It came from the factory it had massive amounts of lock-tite inside and out. REKAT owners; do not remove the lock-tite! If you do, the knife will fall apart...

Pelle, the last statement you made about REKAT'S FALLING APART , was one of the most
stupid staements i've ever seen! ignorance
i can tolerate,stupidity i can't!

Well, if you had seen the knife you´d probably stop smiling. I´m not kidding. REKAT minus lock-tite equals rattler. Sad to say.

It is interesting you’re basing your entire opinion on one knife two to three years old using old technology to manufacture. It is somewhat apparent you have not seen anything we have produced of late. FYI we have switched to CNC machining a new lock system and improved everything. It is like not buying a Ford because the Model T doesn’t compare with a Lincoln Navigator. Sorry your unhappy but your broken record routine does get a bit tiring. You have gone beyond a complaint to a rant with limited knowledge. I think you’re over exaggerating the facts we never used that much lock tight in any knife secondly why did you take it apart in the first place? I think we should go the industry standard of voiding warranties for dissembling the product?

I have two REKATs, a Carnivour and a Sifu. Both of these have actions every bit as smooth as any of my Spyderco knives, actions that were that way right out of the box. The externals may not be quite as finely finished as the Spydies, but are rather better than the two Benchmades that I have, a 930 and a 920, so I have great difficulty understanding what the problem is with REKAT's current production that leads to all of these angry postings. Has it to do with the past? If so, let bygones be bygones, people, and get a life! You do not ever have to buy a REKAT again, but I, for one, am tiring of this same few people constantly crying over their old, with one exception, problems.

Hey guys , if you have a problem with the "smoothness" just do what I did . I sanded the liners and contact surface of the blade , starting with 800grit all the way up to 2500grit sandpaper. I then polished with jewlers rue. Last I lubricate with "Pedros Ice Wax" . Now it's as smooth as any knife , incuding my Microtech's. The Carnivore is by far one of the best Tacticals out there.
