I can understand someone who is dissatisfied with a knife for one reason or another, but let's face it, most complaints are in the opening/closing of a knife, if it is smooth/not smooth, the finish of the knife, if there are visible grind lines etc............
My experience with most folders is that the pivot plays a great role in how a knife will open. A looser pivot screw makes a knife feel more smooth, but allows the knife to wobble between the handle slabs, and a too tight pivot makes the knife unworkable. So...........a properly adjusted pivot screw is important. The pivot bearing is also important. Its composition and alignment need to be as true as possible. I have found that no matter what folder you use, repeated opening and closing will loosen the pivot, unless you maintain it. I carried and used a BM Emerson for more than 5 years and its pivot loosened. I carried and used a Crawford KFF for a year, and its pivot loosened. A knife that doesn't open or close properly probably need the pivot to be serviced. It could be too tight, too loose, but servicing the pivot is something that may need to be done, even if the knife is new from the factory. No big deal. Everyone has different preferences.
As for the REKAT lock, I really like the strength and ergonomics of the design, especially with the slider. I carry and use daily, a Pioneer II Tanto and it is a great knife. The edge geometry is good, the handle design is comfortable, especially for a smaller knife, and it opens and closes good. Is it a good quality knife? Of course it is. What I like about it is that it doesn't pretend to be anything it isn't and it does its job just fine. As far as finish, what do you want? Benchmade and Spyderco may have smoother edges, but the materials are similar. G-10 is G-10. If you want to buy "pretty knives" spend a lot more and get a custom handmade. I think with REKAT, you get what you pay for; a no nonsense cutting tool.
