Is the Rekat SIFU dead in the water? I know Rekat stopped making the SIFU and i had heard they went out of business. I absolutely love that blade/handle shape and would love to see Benchmade get the rights to that design and do one with Titanium Liners, S30V or D2 blade, and Axis lock. it seems like a design that would work well with an axis lock to start with.

Mine has turned into pretty much of a safe queen. I still use it on special occasions, but really worry about damage and replacement issues. The Camillus's dont send me and I dislike Cold Steel in general, so for me the Sifu is the last of the breed

REKAT is no longer in the knife biz supposedly they are concentrating on the tool side of round eye knives and TOOLs. why? who knows.

the idea of the axis on the sifu is a good one imho, i know the rolling lock is not the best lock around, esp. w/that big blade and inertia on the sifu. but the same basic thing w/a axis or a frame lock would be interesting. i wouldnt hold my breath though.

if ya like the sifu, try a bowie version of the cammilus maxx, its a pretty good knife in that size imho, or a BM skirmish, its shorter though..

edited to add - one of mine did have the D2 blade IIRC, a forum special edition w/smooth handles, imho the sifu looks best w/out the grooves in the handle, imho the grooves dont improve grip, smooth is better.

It'd be nice if another maker could get permission to do these. The problems with huge folders is that they are hell on pivots and stop pins. Lots of play and stress problems. Jens Ansø and Darrel Ralph make huge folders, so I'm sure either one could make something acceptable. Get someone like Strider to take over the design and that'd be alright, too!

Thanks,

I emailed Darrel a few months ago about a custom folder, I know he can also make them with a left-hand framelock so that is another plus for me since i am left-handed.

I would love to get something with the sifu bladestyle. very cool blade.
