Hi
I just received a email about this knife being for sale, no trades, bla, bla, bla.....

I can't say for sure but I think they got my email off of bladeforums.com

I have not posted that I was looking for such a knife.

Anyone else get a email like this?

Hi,

Have you used Ebay, etc.... Sometimes I get anon. spam from these fellas. If you're a usenet fan, they've had their troubles with spam. I've never received any spam remotely related to Bladeforums:).

I do use ebay, but as a seller and not for selling knives.

I just replied to the email asking for my address to be removed from his mail list.

Never used usenet.

I was just wondering if it was just me or if other on BF got the same email.

Thanks for the reply,

pahl

I also had one on my e-mails this morning when I signed on.
I don't use Ebay, and think it came from here as well. I faintly remember the name Parabelum from somewhere here a long time ago but could have been someone with the same "username".
Also there was a thread here a month or so ago about Sifu's talking about values, who had how many, and such, and I posted to it. I figger that might be where he/she got my e-mail address as I mentioned I owned 2 of them.
I did not answer it as I have the 2, and not interested in anymore, and happy with what I have in my collection.

Just my .02 cents rounded off to a buck:)

I got the same email. I emailed back asking how he knew I was looking for a Sifu. He said he read my post on BFC. It sounds like he really wants to move this knife.

Asking to be unsubscribed or taken off spam list simply confirms that the spammer has reached a valid email address. Spammer possess zero ethics, so I never do anything but delete.

great :(

Why would he not just post this knife in the buy, sell, trade part of the forum?

I think I may have a option in my email were I can block someone too if they become a problem.

Unfortunately, when you reply to these kind of messages, you just let the sender know that they hit an active e-mail address. Now they will sell this address to other spam companies. Your best bet when you receive spam is to just delete it, because if you reply to ask to be removed, they don't remove you, but instead, flood you with more spam.

I recomend Spamkiller. You can choose to either complain about the spam to the Webmaster, sender and ISP in the touch of one button or you can send them an error message so they think its an invaild e-mail. :)

I also recieved this email...I don't really like tha fact that the forum is being used for spam. :barf:

I remember sometime ago this happened to some forum members and it ended up being a newbie that did not know any better.

Maybe this is something along the same lines as that.

I like to have my email public on these forums, but maybe I will have to change that.

Happy Holiday :)
