REKAT Sifu: How rare?

I decided to visit a local gun store yesterday that has been clearing out their knife stock. I've only been there a couple time and was never impressed with the selection or prices. Well, yesteday as I looked at the few remaining knives in their case I saw an unfamiliar folder. I asked to take a look at it and discovered it was a REKAT Sifu in ATS-34 with a stonewashed blade marked "TRS Special Limited Edition." It appeared unused and in good condition so I decided to go ahead and get it. I know REKAT went under a few years ago. How hard to find are their knives these days? I didn't see any listed on e-bay or the sale forums. The Sifu's an interesting knife design, though a bit big for my needs. Kind of a cool find, just had to share it:D

From what I understand, most people had a Love OR Hate relationship with REKAT. For those who loved it, they REALLY loved it; but the detractors really couldn't stand the knives. I think you don't see them for sale a lot because they're in safes. They were REALLY good knives when you got a good one, but the lock could be picky. I really liked them, and have been looking for a good deal on one for quite some time. I don't know what you paid for the SIFU, so I can't tell you whether or not its a good deal, but the SIFU was a good knife and most people who have them now are collectors who like them too much to sell (cheaply anyway)

They're very nice —*good find!!! Hang on to that puppy... They don't pop up for sale very often (ever). If you ever want to sell it, you'll most likely get rid of it easily.

That's a funny phrase, but it's true enough. Some people claim to have had issues, but overall they're supposedly pretty solid. I hope yours is one of the good'uns.

Peace.
Alex.

Thanks for the information. I first started lurking on the forums a few years ago. I remember a lot of threads debating the merits of the REKAT rolling lock. The lock on my Sifu appears to be solid. Given the collector status of the knife, I'm not going to spine wack it too much.

The guy who sold me the Sifu didn't know what it was and just seemed interested in getting rid of the few remaining knives in the case. Even offered me a discount. I think I paid around $60.00 with tax. Sounds like people are willing to pay a lot more for them. I will probably keep it at home in a safe place until I decide what to do with it. It's a little to big for an EDC anyway.:)

Here are a few I took earlier today.
Let me know if they are too big for easy viewing.

SINCE WE ARE ON THE SUBJECT OF REKATS I DO HAVE A REKAT TALONITE WITH CARBON FIBER HANDLES. ITWAS TOO BIG ORIGINALLY SO I HAD IT (HANDLES) SLIM DOWN ABIT TO FIT MY MEDIUM HANDS.IT IS A LARGE KNIFE BUT I LOVE IT BUT ALSO A SAFE QUEEN(DON'T REALLY KNOW WHY AS IT HAS BEEN MODDED)GUY I BOUGHT IT FROM SAID THEY ONLY MADE A FEW IN CARBON FIBER WITH THE TALONITE BLADE. DON'T KNOW HOW TO POST PICS ON THIS FORUM.I ALSO WONDER WHAT THE VALUE IS.

For valuation questions, I'd try asking in Bernard Levine's forum. It's usually the place for that kind of thing.

I'll let you double your investment right now. I've kinda always wanted one, but never see the plain edge ones.

I have a plain edge, black bladed SIFU in D2 with only a single finger groove. It sits on a throne in the safe.
