Since the only "dumb" question is the one you don't ask, here goes. Yesterday I received my first REKAT Sifu (it will do until a decent size knife comes along):

1. Is it pronounced "See-foo" or "Sy-foo" or "si-foo"?

2. What does Sifu mean?

Thanks in advance.

I've always pronounced it See-fu, but I could be wrong. It means "teacher." Bob Taylor once joked that it stood for "Steroid Inhanced Folding Utility" or something like that.

cockroachfarm, hold on to your hat--another decent size knife has arrived. Check out the threads and pics of the Camillus Madd Maxx 5.5 on these forums. Both the Sifu and the Madd Maxx are "must haves" for large knife lovers.

...And don't forget the good old Cold Steel Vaquero Grande...That bad-boy folder IS a monster, with its' 6 inch-long blade, and 13 inches total length!.:).

Thanks, guys! The REKAT Sifu will be relegated to Church carry and I am ordering a Vaquero Grande tomorrow for sharpening my pencils. Now, if I could only find a really BIG knife for work......?

Cold Steel Voyager X2 is better because you get 6" blade. Vaquero Grande is fully serrated and a pain to sharpen.

well, i guess i can answer this q lol - si-foo is how i pronounce, and it means teacher in chinese/mandarin some oriental language

sifu

nonbox is correct. Check out Cold Steel's brand new 2X Voyager. It has a drop point giant blade (6") and you can get them with no serrations. It is really really a giant beast but carries well in the pocket.

Thanks for the heads up. I'll make the switch.
