Has anyone used this knife and have an opinion on it? Thanks.

I think that there was a thread about these in REKAT's forum. They were gound by Rob Simonich and had desert ironwood scales. I haven't visited REKAT's forum for a while and don't remember if anybody had experience of the more 'common' g-10 version.

If I remember correctly, Rob said that he made a few [33, I think] and those had the nice scales. I saw one and should have bought it. But it had metal liners and I needed super high rust resistance. Nonetheless, it was a real beauty.
Pat Crawford made some as well, and I think he and his son may still custom make more by special order.
The ones I'm asking about are the ones made for and partly by Rekat. Rob said he ground those blades and only 33 were made. But I don't think he did their scales, actions or assembled them. The ones I've seen are, except for the superb blades, typical REKAT fare with metal scales and REKAT rolling lock. That's why I was wondering if anyone has used them. My Pocket Hobbit is a tough knife but far from smooth. If I'm going to try to find a talonite carnie and spend a bundle on it, I want it to be a damn sight better than my Hobbit. Maybe REKAT did a better job with the talonite carnies?

A friend of mine has a REKAT Talonite Carnivour and it's by far the smoothest REKAT I've ever seen. I got the impression from handling it that REKAT put some extra care into making the Talonite versions, as it seemed more carefully done than other REKATs, but it is still a REKAT, i.e., G-10, SS liners, Rolling Lock, standard REKAT clip. I can't say whether they are all that smooth or he just got a good one, but his is definitely good.

My REKAT Talonite Carnie came with a very smooth action, tight lock up, etc. I haven't used it much 'cause I've got a number of other REKATS being used already as working blades. In my experience, the rolling lock mechanism seems to improve with use. I use a Carnie Cub daily that has smoothed out (wasn't bad to begin with) and my SIFU just glides open and closed, but that could be due to blade size.

Mike, the liners on the REKAT are stainless? Any idea what metal?
