So heres my problem, Canadian knife laws state that a knife may not be opened by a flicking motion. I own a Benchmade 710, that I have tightened to make it "leagal" yet still able to open with one hand. After normal use the pivot will loosen enough the the blade becomes flickable again. I have tried locktite but it still happens, tightening the pivot any more then I do turns it into a two handed opener. In my work one handed is the only way to go, as my other hand is usually busy holding what I will need to cut.

Anyone have any suggestions or is this loosening just normal break in? I have only had the knife for about a month now.

The knife is made to be a smooth opener so its going to be hard to take that away. I would just get a different knife.

KNife laws are fairly relaxed up herer and the daily tweek on the pivot screw is just a habit I will have to get into. It also happens that the torx tool for Avid disc brakes is the right size for the job and I have about 6 of those kicking around here at home and way more at work, I am a bicycle mechanic.

Either loctite it, or wrap teflon tape around the screw.

EDIT: I just read that you already tried loctiting it, it may be the knife breaking in and getting smoother, you could try loctiting one more time after the knife has broken in.

Move To Texas. Just kidding. I work on industrial equipment and do not like any tool I need two hands to operate, because I like to leave my left hand free to hold on with. Maybe if you like that blade so much you could fix it open and use it from a tool pouch, while you are at work.

Unfortunately, most knives that are designed to be opened with one hand can also be flicked open, and the bigger the knife, the more easily it can be flicked.

Did the loctite bond break? If you used the green or blue, you might try the red version, which requires heat as well as force for the bond to be broken.
