Relatively inexpensive sheath option for Tops B.O.B.?

Hi, I am thinking of getting either a Tops B.O.B. or a Tops Wilderness Guide 4.0, and I think the B.O.B. is more functional while the Wilderness Guide 4.0 has a better sheath.

I don't wear a belt often, and the Wilderness Guide 4.0's sheath looks like it can affix to a camelback or other backpack for things such as mountain biking expeditions and day hikes and such. What should I do? I think that the Wilderness Guide 4.0 is a nice knife and all, but I think the B.O.B. is somewhat better and with a sheath I may be unable to use. Should I try to find a better sheath for the B.O.B. and spend an extra load of money (I probably cannot get a better within my budget of $120 or so) on it? Or should I try my luck with the Wilderness Guide 4.0?

thanks for your help,
Half Penny

Nice! I like both those knives. The BOB looks especially nice, if you like it better then I'd go for it. Then you can look up Spec Ops or Blackhawk if your wanting a nylon type sheath. That kydex that comes with the BOB looks good, and the standard loop that I assume comes with it would be ok for strapping to a pack till you get what you want.

That said, the Wilderness Guide looks good as well. :)

I've always gone by what I like the looks of best though, not by the sheath. But I have a little insider advantage. ;)

I like the BOB - a friend has one and I've made a couple sheaths for it (both belt carried). It has a great feel in hand and very functional. It's my buddy's go to carry when out camping. The stock sheath is kinda crappy .. and he was worried about losing the knife which is why he asked for a sheath.

I EDC my Tops BOB currently, I wear Carhartts and am left handed so I just clip the spring clip to the hammer loop and drop the sheath into the little pocket and it carries excellent.

Not sure about your buddies sheath but my stock sheath has excellent retention, I can hold my sheath and swing it around as hard as possible and it will not fail. It also clicks in with a very authorative SNAP.

I can't say the same for my much larger Firestrike 45 though, just too much weight and not enough retention.

Like anything mass produced I suppose. Sometimes you get a winner - sometimes you dont. His sheath was sloppy loose.

My budget is around $120, but I can probably spend the extra 20 dollars for the Tops sheath, but it says that it is a 5" sheath, and the blade of this knife is 4.5", so I'm kind of worried about it being loose.

I like the look of the Wilderness Guide 4.0 better, but the B.O.B. seems to have more reviews, and seems to be more practical than the Wilderness Guide 4.0,being better at cutting and carving and all.
