Relaxed November walk to Elbow Pond

The moose tracks went all the way to the pond.

Thor testing the temperature of the water.

The water was like glass and it was totally silent at the pond.

Someone's dog, or a coyote, and a cat left these at the water's edge. The cat must have been feral because there aren't any houses in a few miles all around.

I don't know why but I love this kind of moss. It looks sort of alien.

We stumbled upon this little bird's nest, long vacated. Anyone wanna take a guess at what species?

forsetnomad, good eyes! I had forgotten that people have spotted otters at the pond and while the tracks looked strange for a cat, I couldn't think of what else it could be. Thanks!

Blais, John McCann has an almost identical shot of a lake like this on his Be Prepared To Survive website. You both must have some beautiful country to hike & walk in. Nothing can beat getting outdoors & especially taking your two best friends with you. . . :)
