Reliable, accurate digital compass around $50?

Are there any reliable, accurate digital compasses out there around the $50 price point? My only personal experience is with an older Celestron model (don't remember the name/number but it's apparently discontinued) and quite frankly, it was terrible. It was wildly inaccurate and couldn't actually be turned on/off (had to remove batteries) and based on what I'm seeing, newer models get poor reviews for the same shortcomings. I feel like maybe the technology has improved in recent years to the point that there should be an affordable option on the market, but I haven't found it yet.

Suggestions?

Why a digital? The needle has proven itself accurate for a long time know, and they are inexpensive.

Digital could lose battery (are there solar versions) or be destroyed by emp.
What would happen to the old fashioned ones during an emp? Could they become demagnetized?

At the very least an emp screws with a compass temporarily.
Not sure if there will be a definite change to the compass.
If there is a major solar flare however, which is due soon, the earth's magnetic field will change and compasses will go haywire.

I think this is one of those times where you can't have all three. Typically digital compasses are frowned upon because or the batteries. If your batteries die in a true SHTF situation you are screwed. I would recommend a good orienteering compass and a small bubble compass that way you can always be sure your main compass is accurate. Two compasses can't be wrong at the same time in the same way short of being trapped in an iron box. What do I know though I'm just a guy on the internet.
