Work related relocation to Hampton Roads, VI. Will be relocating for 2 years at the most. I have read some info but would like the opinion of a local. From what I read looks like an outstanding place and would like to get the most of my stay.

Can any Virginians give me some info on

Gun Laws (NRA is located in VI so it must be good news)
Gun Clubs
Fitness Centers (kettlebells or free weight gyms)
Any Thunder Ranch or Front Sight type school
USPSA/IPSC clubs or teachers
Wilderness schools, expeditions, adventure trips etc...
SCUBA Diving

any info will be appreciated

Thanks in advance.

The initials for Virginia are VA. not VI. That will make searching a wee bit easier.

I wish you luck with your move!! I hope you find out all that you need/want to!!

Howdy Dante,
I'm in your (soon to be) neck of the woods. Let me know where you're looking to move in the area (it's pretty spread out landwise) and I should be able to get you info on ranges, shops, etc.
Welcome to the Commonwealth
Cheers,
Mike

Virginia is a "shall issue" state so you can get a concealed carry permit. It is also an "open carry" state. The open carry statutes usually pre-empt the concealed carry statutes, for example you can not carry concealed weapons in a state-licensed establishment that sells alcohol, but you can carry openly.

Of course there are local laws that control discharging firearms.

Men thanks!
A buddy of mine asked me if the Quantico Range is open to the civilian public?

Well, they are military ranges that are on base so I don't think they have "open to the public" access, but I do know that the Quantico Shooting Club has civilian members and they get range time.
