I was recently browsing the archives and found alot of threads regarding the kraton handles on the cold steel knives and how they hurt, blister, and just plain suck.I was having the same problem and what I did was take some regular old parachute cord/550 cord and wrap the handle with it over the Kraton. The result is a beefier, way more comfortable grip.

Has anyone else tried this? It works pretty awesome IMHO :D

I'm curious how you anchored the cord so that it doesn't slip. Did you need to drill a second hole near the hilt side of the handle?

Actually what i did was start at the lanyard hole make a loop up to the hilt
and back down to the lanyard hole on the side of the grip. Then start wrapping from the lanyard hole all the way up to the hilt real tight, then leave a tab near the hilt about 2 inches stick it through the loop you made near the hilt, and then pull it through from what you have left at the butt end.The loop should pull it under the wrapping, then take the end near the butt that you used to pull it through, put it through the lanyard hole and tie a knot or two tight as you can to the hole so it doesn't pull through.

Then you can use a lighter to melt the ends so they don't fray. :D
