when i first got my commander bak in 98(satin #134), i couldnt beleive it, i had my benchmade 970, but could never afford the real deal. so anyway when i first got it i couldnt beleive the quality and it became my EDC, but back then they didn't advertise the wave, and the first time i gave it a yank, i was like "what the f***". i couldnt believe it, it was like magic. i couldnt wait to tell all my friends. and its still just the coolest thing on the planet. just reminising and thought i would make a post of it. anybody else have a similar experience?

my first experience was Don Rearic asking me to strangle him and well after gutting my arm with a trainer I was hooked - or should I say waved :)

I sure do! They began taking orders and then shipping them out. I remember calling the company to check on mine (everyone else was getting theirs), I spoke to Ernie. He apologized profusely for over looking my order. 2 days later I had satin, plain edge #124. I also had a satin plain edge Spec War to go with it. Like the idiot I am, I sold them to a buddy, thinking I could pick them up a gain. Hey, they were production knives. One of my biggest mistakes. I think I have my friend convinced to will the knives to me, but I can't get him to part with them any sooner.

Here's a response I posted not too long ago:

Quote John Hollister:

Why? Uhhh. I fell in love with the CQC6 first time I laid eyes on it. Had to have one.

On the production side, I was at an "Urban Carbine" class with a now infamous Florida Knife Dealer. The talk came to knives and specifically Emerson Productions knives. I'd seen a "Raven", too spongy for my tastes. I'd seen the "Specwar", blade a little thin for my taste.

Earl pulls a ('98)Commander out of his pocket, thumbs it open and hands it too me. My eyes sparkle, my mouth goes dry. "NOW YOUR TALKIN' !!"

Beautiful recurve, rock solid feel, sharp as a laser. I'm in love!!

"Ohhh, check this out" POWW!!, he waves it open.

 . . . . :) . . . . :D

It went home with me and I've been "waving" since.

Out of curiousity, did you get #134 from a Dealer in Florida? I had #133 in the Summer of 1998, cannot remember the name of the Dealer but they used to advertise in the back of Tactical Knives Magazine [NOT Earl Stewart].

Ahhh...the good old days. When a knife was a knife, yeah? Those 98s sure busted alot of bubbles back then...

I remember that! Things like that make believers out of alot of people. They really are terribly fast-opening knives...

don,
nope got it from emerson knives. i remember when it came and no one was at the house and they didnt leave the package because no one signed for it, that was one of the worst feelings ive ever had. i just wish i bought a few more. but it was a "PRODUCTION KNIFE" and i could always buy another 1. i would love to get one now but no ones sellin them. i would of bought one off the emerson site but was broke at the time.
i got another question. why doesn't ernie make a true satin anymore? it just kills me.
