Yes. The overly high price of freedom is too often under appreciated.

Having been to Pearl Harbor I have a greater appreciation for the sacrifice that so many gave. Thank you men and women past and present for your fight for freedom. We are blessed because of you.

Thanks to those who serve and a special thanks to my Grandfather, who survived the sinking of the U.S.S. West Virginia Dec. 7,1941 and the sinking of the USS Liscome Bay November 24, 1943.

I also find it sad that it wasn't on TV (at least where I saw). I didn't forget.

I actually asked a friend if he knew what today was, he had no idea what the significance of December 7th was.

Thank you to all vertrans, past and present, alive, remembered, and to those whos battle was cut way too short.

Very well stated and to the point, GPB.
And AZTimT, your post is flat out sig worthy.

To all vets... Thank you.:thumbup:

Sadly enough - the media is much younger now, and so are their viewers

I'll never forget!

On Oahu now, went to the Arizona Memorial last Friday...
Second visit, but no less profound - Beyond words.

While in the Navy, my wife lead a Color Guard on the Memorial; quite memorable.

Staying at a huge R&R motel - amazing to see all the 'kids' (was I ever that young?) here for a break from Afghanistan/Iraq with family.

Also a couple hundred (as I understand) Pearl Harbor Survivors here for the anniversary; it is such an honor to be even in the same room with them!

Never forget, and deepest gratitude to all who serve(d).

Remembering all whose lives were touched on this day in history and especially to my brothers and sisters at arms.

My father told me that he was 17 yrs. old, having his Army physical at Fort Jackson when the announcement came over the radio about the attack on Pearl Harbor. However, he can't remember where the keys to the shed are....

Unforunately, it gets worse. My 13 year old had to ask me (without having discussed it) why there wasn't a moment of silence, nor even the mere mention of Pearl Harbor Day during morning announcements at school. Apparently he is more acute to the sacrifices of his ancestors than his community school.

I think it has to do with how youth is reared today. Very very sad.

It isn't surprising that here at the Busse Forum, it is still ".....a day that will live in infamy"!

Very well said Tim  God bless our veterans and our troops past present and in the future. May We Never Forget Them and the Price They Payed for our Freedoms.

Thanks Frank for reminding us of what is important.

Nancy was making comment last night during dinner/news that there was nothing on the local, and that one of the cable news channels gave Pearl Harbor less than a minute.

Very sad, and I think as time goes on, as distance separates, as the generation immediately and directly affected by that action dwindles in number, the mentioning of Pearl Harbor will become more and more associated with a hack movie versus an act of war.
