It was that night in New Dale after Bilbo and his Dwarf friends had finally made it through their adventures in the Misty Mountains, and made it back to the Long Lake. It was several months after his going away party back in the shire the autumn before. We were at that new Southron place on the cliffs overlooking the lake.

You should be able to recall it...it was that night when we ate all that queer looking Haradrian food. It came out of the deep southern reaches, and it was all pretty spicy, especially those funny looking crawl fishes. But it sure was tasty...I'm sure it helps them sell more beer, but be that as it may, the food was really good by all acounts and the beers and ales were even better.

What a great night though, it was the 60th anniversary of Smaug's death. We were listening to that odd post punk band the Flaming Lips, I think they were called, out on the overlook after we ate. I had never heard of them before, but they must be pretty well known in that part of the world. They even had a beer named after them. It was wonderful! Bilbo kept buying rounds, and Balin kept shouting out screw that flying worm!! I think he may still be a bit offended that they put that dragon on their new coins like that.

Meh...maybe my sense of humor is a little different than other people's lol. I thought it was funny anyway. LOLOL, Tolkien nerd humor I guess...

Love the pictures! And the food looks good!

Lol, thanks Heber. I have come to realize that the idea of the calendar I wanted to do being an anniversary thing for Fiddleback Forge was just much too ambitious with my budget. I can't afford to purchase the 12 knives I need for the calendar. And even if I did have the funds I don't have enough time to wait on them to show up in a Friday posts or try to race anyone to them. I may talk to some other makers whose wears fit in the scenes and try to do a calendar with several hand made knife makers in it, or I may just skip the calendar idea all together. It has become something my daughter and I enjoy doing for some of our meals, and honestly I get to enjoy those times a lot more when I don't involve the camera and just make it our dinner time in Middle Earth. I didn't even photograph the last few set ups, I just enjoyed the time with Alayna and kept it for myself, but this time I saw some humor that made me laugh so I thought I'd share it. No worries I guess if others don't find it quite as funny as I do. It still has nice Fiddleback content to the pics, and I can still come back here and laugh again later. Life is too short to not just have some fun with some of it. :)
