The sad part in all of this, as I have watched it develop...is that sometimes Dealers get very hot information. They get this information sometimes months in advance. And that "hot information" makes for lively discussion and that is what this place is about.
Now, if the dealer in question, this time "TAD" does not purchase a Dealer Membership, then the discussion won't occur here.
Kevin, with all due respect. You have every right to say the discussion will not happen here in this manner. It is your right. However, I think beating people on the head for saying, "The discussion will be over here on this forum" is a bit much.
Seriously, think about this. What you are saying is, if someone has some hot info, which again, leads to a very excited response...if that guy does not want to play by your rules, he can no longer post about that. There is no getting around that.
But to simply post again and again and again and chastise enthusiasts for what amounts to their enthusiasm is going to kill this particular forum.
What you are doing is putting the individual enthusiast between a rock and a hard place, and you are slapping them down with your keyboard because they like your forum, Kevin. And you don't see it.
They want the information, because of a unique set of circumstances with the new rules, depending on the Dealer, that information might not be posted here.
You are making this a closed door facility and then when someone else says, "Well, you'll find the information here," you blow your top.
It has every appearance of you wanting this Forum to not bleed into another area of the Internet with members going to those other areas to discuss things. This has become petty and abrasive, your responses to the enthusiasts who made this forum lively. If you intended on killing this forum at BFC, I don't think you could have done it better, not had a better plan than simply responding in the abrasive fashion you have chosen.
In the way this has been handled, mere discussion comes with a price tag, like it or not. And I think the whole thing is sad. Even if "TAD" had the intent of slyly advertising, he still had the hot info that many enthusiasts seek. And I see this as an impasse to the free exchange of information that made this place so great.
I think the best thing to do, would be for the people to stop bantering with you and simply compile an E-mail listing of everyone that wants to have that free exchange of information elsewhere instead of putting it in here. Because you simply cannot resist the temptation to "put them in their place." And in doing so, you are killing your own forum because you feel the need to respond to every insult you feel has been launched. Every threat must be countered, real or imagined.
And the way you are doing it is so utterly abrasive and mean-spirited that you are never going to get across to this Community that you are being benevolent and doing it in the spirit of keeping the forum alive. You are not being a "Teacher," you are being a Principle with a paddle in your hand. Think about it.
