Many of us enjoy trading here on the Forums--a great way to experience different knives without breaking the bank. As a youngster, I loved watching the old guys sit around the courthouse yard or general store whittling and trading knives. Got me thinking about trading as a quasi-social event and how (and when) you folks got into it. My first trade took place in the 6th Grade (during class, of course) and was for a tiny fixed blade with 'lover boy' written on the leather sheath. I've enjoyed trading ever since. How about you folks? Do you remember when you first traded for a knife?

It was on here at BF. Traded a brand new CRKT Apache Military for a used Spyderco Matriarch. I was so worried about shipping the knife the wrong way, but it went well and I learned how to do it right. I have traded more since and love the process. Even though it is a pain in the ass a lot of times, because you get to interact with a lot of neat people and a lot of the knives have a story to them of sorts.
