My nephew, Steven, and his wife, Shannon, had a wonderful son - Wylder James Laffoon, who passed on July 20th, 3 years and 2 months young. Wylder was diagnosed with a rare and fatal disease - Niemann-Pick Type A. This past Saturday night there was a Celebration of Life for Wylder - a true Warrior. This video was played for the 175 friends and family in attendance. If you have an extra 18 minutes, you will be truly moved by this tribute to a Warrior - Wylder James.

Thanks, Karda, for your kind words and blessings.

There is now a humped-back whale in Maui who has been named Wylder in his honor. Pretty cool stuff. My brother and his wife are sponsoring Wylder the Whale. Apparently when Steven and Shannon got married in Maui, the night before the wedding, they had the rehersal dinner on The Whale Foundation's boat (or so I am told). When the crew heard that this 7-year old whale was being named Wylder, they apparently all gave out a big cheer. It is amazing how one little boy can impact the world.

His mom has a blog she keeps for Wylder. The day and day after he died, the blog had over 7,100 views from all around the world. He was quite the Warrior.

Sometimes we humans forget what a precious gift this thing we call life really is.
We take chances with it, we sometimes forsake it or use it unwisely.
Then you come across someone like little Wylder, who somehow drew a short straw and never got the chance to be.
Never got the chance to do all the things we silly beings can often take for granted or feel that they are owed to us.

I think that Little Wylder the Warrior was here for his short time to remind us of this....
And the fact that the only truly transcendent thing in this world is a thing called unconditional love.

Whomever made that video did a fine job of telling his story and getting his message across.
Thank you.

My nephew, Steven, (Wylder's father), put that video together. Pretty awesome - great match of photos and music and just a bit of text to lead the way.

I loved some of the pictures of Wylder when "I'm a Warrior!" was playing! Wylder always had some wild hair photos.

Yes, Wylder had a message, and it did reach thousands of people around the world. An amazng little boy.
