Many of you long time members of this forum probably remember Martin "Sandy" Morrissey.

I have tried in vain to contact Sandy and the phone number I have used for years is no

longer in service, no response from emails as well. This leads me to believe that perhaps (Unverified)

that Sandy is no longer with us, having slipped his earthly bonds and moved on to greener and more

peaceful pastures. Nonetheless it is Appril 16th and I am here, as usual, to wish him a Happy Birthday

whether here or in heaven. So Sandy if you read this CALL ME!!!....if not then RIP my good friend.

(Sandy is my senior by 10 years and one day)

Tough to hear but you know things like this are bound to happen, I'd say that was a good long stretch right there for him. here's an old photo of him with is pet raccoon Casey, that would ride along with him on his motorcycle;

Remember, Leathersmiths always leave a Lasting Impression ;)

Rest up Sandy and thanks for this thread Paul !

I located his daughter and was advised Sandy passed in July 2022... he was practically blind and had disposed of his computer and Rolodex so she had no way of contacting anyone.

I am a member of the Georgia Custom Knifemakers Guild... attached is a photo taken March 2018 of Sandy and "his sons" (note: the photo is not complete - just those there that day) as he referred to us. While Sandy was not a member, he lived a couple miles from Trackrock Family Campground, where semi-annually, Mar & Sept, hammer-ins were held. He always tried to attend health and schedule permitting. He taught a lot of the members how to make a sheath. Sandy rode a motorcyle into his 70's until he could not pick it up if it laid it down... I know that he took a road trip and visited with Chuck Burrows and Paul Long...

Sorry to hear about Sandy's passing. I liked him a lot. We had similar interests outside of leather (motorcycles & professional career). He invited me over to his place several times in Blairsville and tutored me on my sheathmaking. It really changed my work and I'm forever grateful. Sandy had a sense of humor i really appreciated. His wife had passed a few years before we met and one evening we were sitting there .. just taking a pause, so I thought I'd ask a man who is nearly twice my age a question few can answer, "What's it like now that she's passed?" Sandy cut his eyes at me, gave a small grin, and whispered ... "quiet."
