Remembering the fallen...12/7/41

Let us never forget the sacrifices these men made

It really upsetting to see all these people honoring the japenease pilotes who died in the attack

Truly the greatest generation. They had a tough job to do and did it without reservation. We should always remember their service and sacrifice.

Just called my grandfather, hats off to the greatest generation, and a big thank you if there's any vets on this forum from that era.

I passed through Hickam Air Base not so "ehem" long ago. There were still bullet holes in the buildings, painted over. Those were defining times in the course of history, even affecting us today.

I'm reading Louis Zamperini's story now in, "Unbroken". I first heard of him in 1984, during the L.A. Olympic games. What an amazing life he lead!

What a horrible day....... So many dead Americans..... Although caught by surprise it did not take long before heroes fought back and we repaid our attackers with interest........Yes!.....

Saw a pic a few minutes ago of some of those still surviving heroes......My, how sad to see them looking so mortal...... I hope they make it forever........

I was stationed at Schofield Barracks from 2002-2005, and the USAF folks I worked with told me that they weren't allowed to fill in the holes at Hickam. They were left there as a reminder, so we'd never forget.

My paternal grandfather was a SeaBee during WWII. He had sensed something brewing and enlisted in the Navy before the start of the war. He was just out of basic and on a transport ship to Hawaii on 12/7/1941.
Had he been a couple of days earlier, I may not be here today.
Both of my grandfathers served. Moms dad was a Pathfinder in Europe, dads in the Pacific. They were both amazing men and I miss them dearly.
