Sometimes we may tend to forget or take these people for granted.
It is a good thing to remember!!!

Every day there are new people interested in knives who are not makers!
Everyday there are new people who hear about and use this Forum to learn!
Every day there are people who are new to Knifemaking Steelbeaters or Stock
removal who are still learning and need to know.

This does one thing:
Promote the industry we make our living at!

We should consider it our priviledge to share and teach them that which has become
second nature to us!

Your exactly right Robert, knifemakers in general are the most generous people I have ever met when it comes to sharing hard won knowledge about their craft. This isn't so in other crafts you know, my wife was making jewelry for a while and she couldn't get any help from anybody. She was very jealous of all the information I had at my fingertips on the internet. Lets remember to cover the basic stuff every now and then. I know there is a bunch of stuff I just don't even think about any more when making knives that opens whole new worlds for the novice. I remember not too long ago I was a novice (and I'm still not much more than that now!) and I still learn something new here every day!

I have to say Mr. Hankins you definitely set a good example for knife makers. You answered all my questions courteously and in a very timely fashion.I know your busy and I appreciate you taking the time help me . I just wanted to thank you and I look forward to doing business with you.

True this place does have enough info to keep you happy for a while
Silent tell the wife to look at www.ganoksin.com the forums there have a equal amount of info about jewelery as here does about knives

L Ubelein: I recently got the opportunity to visit Robert's shop and I enjoyed it immensely.

Talk about time well spent!

I actually posted the whole story over on the custom knife forum in case anyone is interested.

Just as a preview, he tests his knives _real_ hard...:D
