Remington 870

Just to give some promise that you made a good purchase; my 870 is at least 40 years old. A police department cast-off, it has not a trace of the original finish on the metal parts, and a large and ugly "Property of such & such PD" engraved on the side. (I still have the reciept.)
Still works perfectly.

Pre broken in as the parts are polished as well as the external finish of the steel and wood... but as you probably already knew that you also know there is no other diffs.

Thanks... no, I didn't realize that the police was pre-broken in!!:thumbup:

Or:)

Buy one and lend it to me for a year, and I'll break it in for you.:D:D

PS

Please send along with that, a case of Shells ( the Big case that is) and a couple cases of Clays Too.:D

I was glad too see that the lock was gone on mine as well! Mine holds 7 total but thats a lucky number right :)

I have owned several 870s and 1 mossberg. I like the ballance and feel of a remington better. I do like the thumb safety on the mossberg better though. They are both excellent firearms though, and will provide a lifetime of service if treated right. It comes down to personal preference.

I really prefer the the safety of the remington ONLY because I worry about knocking it off by accident. Both are top notch guns:thumbup:

I didnt think about the possibility of disengaging it accidentaly. Nice observation. I just like being able to see it is hot w/o having to unshoulder the weapon. Seems alot more likely to be bumped and dissengaged than the remingtons though.

one good thing about the location on yours is that you can be hot and engaging with the safety ON and not loose time if it needs to come OFF fast

I shoot trap with an 870 Wingmaster Express. I had a Winchester 1300 Defender with the 4+1 mag. I just traded it in on the Mossberg 590 Special Purpose with the ghost ring real sight, orange front ramp, 6+1, and SpeedFeed stock. I like having 6 rounds ready to go and four more right there if needed.

I opted for the Mossberg because of the top safety. I'm left handed and was worried about screwing up the safety of the other. Thought about converting it to left-handed but figured the liability of a left-handed safety on a right-handed gun was just not worth it.

Another added bonus is that the Mossbergs and the Remingtons tend to point the same where the Winchesters are just different enough to make you notice.
