Hi and a Happy New Year to all.
I purchased a 1913 Remington bayonet yesterday, it has been shortened to @ 8 inch blade length and the muzzle ring has been removed, so now it is more of a trench dagger .This is well done and does look like it could be a factory mod'. The scabbard has also been shortened to match and is fitted with a leather frog. The chap I got this fron said these were supplied to the Home Guard over here during WW2?
Does anyone have any idea if this information is correct? I cannot find any mention anywhere of this modification in the books I have .
The changes to it's spec are not new and I have seen one other bayonet shortened in the same way , but that did not have the shortened original scabbard, it was in an all leather scabbard.
Thanks , Paul.

Hello Paul,
I'm sorry that I cannot help you with this.

However, if you post this over at the Bernard Levine Knife Collecting and Identification forum you might be able to acquire some assistance.

Good Luck!!!
