No pics unfortunately.

About 4" total, belly like a skinner, fin on top edge, no guard, handle material is a brown jigged bone, 3/32" stock or so, marked "Remington" mark on one side, underlined, other side is a round stamp with "Remington UMC, with RH4" underneath, and a "made in USA mark".

This question is for a friend, so help me out, if you don't mind.

Best Regards,

Steven,
I quickly found a picture on Bob Tice knives. This "Fin" you speak of,I think its a fish scaler.Could this be a fish & game pattern, rather a "patch" knife?

Is it like this one?

It is a knife based on the "Outers" knife style???

I'm looking at it in the Remington Cutlery Catalog C-30 (c1930 I think) - they just call it a "Remington Sheath Knife". Matches up to your description - specs: 7 1/2in long, 4 1/4in blade. I think it was intended as a general hunting/outdoors knife. Trent: the image in the catalog matches yours very well, except that the edge has somewhat more belly toward the front of the blade.

You see these pop up often. They usually go for between $50-100. The ones in good condition look quite nice especially if the sheath is in good shape. There is one on the bay right now. Someone polished it but the blade looks to have seen little use.

The one pictured has been used and sharpened quite a bit.

There is an active auction on evilbay you can search for if you want to see one with a pretty full blade.

Looks like the knife in question.....appreciate the help greatly.

I have a knife like the one pictured with a Kinfolks tang stamp. Case made a similar one, as well as Western and Marbles.

Not sure what the pattern was designed for though? I had thought they were small hunters.

It is called the Outers Knife and it was made by several companies. It is still being produced today by Marbles.
