Anyone have any experience with the R1 Enhanced? I got offered one for my Sig P320. I've been looking at getting a 1911 but I can't find a whole lot about this one. Any thoughts or opinions are appreciated.

Check out this video review of it.

Don't have any first hand experience and haven't talked to many who do but with the state of Remington as of late I would look elsewhere. The Rugers look promising and Springfield armory 1911's are pretty good. STI is another good brand and they have a couple lower priced (for a 1911) options.

Do you want a 1911 as just a fun gun or are you considering it more carry/defense?

I've heard good things. That's all I can comment on personally. Not sure about the process in which they make their parts.

When I was looking at 1911's I was strongly considering the R1. I like their tactical model but that one is way over priced. $500 for the standard isn't bad though depending on how they make/machine their frame and slide.

No personal experiences, but not much positive talk about Remington on the forums. Usually they recommend a springfield or ruger when this question is asked. I have a Sig 1911 which I'm pretty fond of. It's also a common recommendation a Dan Wesson has the best bang for the buck, no mim and High levels of fitting and finishing.

My FIL says that my BIL's Remington is surprisingly close to in accuracy to his pre-Gold Cup, National Match Colt.

Thanks for the feedback guys. The trade fell through so I guess I won't be owning an R1. Honestly after the reading up on 1911's I'd probably go with the Ruger. I really can't find much bad about them.

bighoss- It would be a range gun. I carry a VP9 and a Mossberg handles nightime defense.

You might be OK with it for a range gun but I'd still go with the Ruger. I'm considering getting one myself.
