I am guessing that maybe Phil worked at Camillus or someone else might know. I have a couple of the R1 Upland and the R2 Waterfowl Remingtons. I have seen them in both the Remington Green (just my own disignation since that is how I first notice the Remington knives) and in a Stag Delrin handle.
Would anyone know which is earlier?
The Green ones I have came from an estate auction from a fine fellow who was not only a collector but also ran a sporting goods store. So when he passed away the family is pulling out stock that is very old in some cases.
I happened to catch the last auction that ran from 12noon to about 7 pm. This was the 4th auction of the estate and there is one more to come. There was a lot of stuff.
Any information on when the Green handled ones were last made would be appreciated. They may not be in great demand to collectors but they sure are top quality knives.
Thanks,
Ed

The stag delrin came befor the green ones, but in the end they wher still makeing some stag delrin. I set up the notcher to put the notch in the cover so you could get to the nail mark.

Thanks for the reply. I do know that these that I have came from an estate of a gentleman who was a collector and owed a Sporting Goods store some time ago. They are older, but I really don't know how much older.
He had other knives that I can date better that were made in the late 50's and some from the early 60's that were new in the box still too.
I just hoped I might be able to date these a little better. Thanks again.
Best Wishes,
Ed

i clicked on "silymindy" links before it was banned, but could not download it all due to my slow internet connection. however, is it a missing piece of the puzzle as to who is making all these knives with American and German stampings ? does it show knives i see on ebay, but with no indication that they are made in China. that post was so amazing, even the name, silymindy; i think every forum member should have checked it out. too elaborate to be a hoax and so far my computer doesn't seem to have caught a virus. any others see it ? roland
