With the understanding that Remington knives are made by Camillus, the following question(s) is submitted.
Back in the early 90s while working at a gun shop in Fairbanks, AK I purchased the Remington RB 1240, bone handled, Daddy Barlow. At the time this was supposed to be the first in a series called the "Musket Knife Series, " a limited edition of knives. Since then I have not heard or seen anymore about the series.
I've spoken with various knife collectors, tried Remington who referred me to Smokey Mountian Knife Works whose resident expert had no idea about them. I once saw one and one only for sale on a knife dealer's website for $150. I can't recall the site.
I would really appreciate if anyone can tell me if the series was ever completed and anything about the collectability of this knife. The usual value question of course. The one I have has been kept in the original box and is unused. I originally had bought one in delrin to use and this one in bone to put up. I had gotten frustrated to the point I was just going to make a belt sheath for it and start carrying it when I came across the one for sale on the sight mentioned.
I hope someone can give me a little insight into what happened with this line and this first in the series model. Is it something special because the edition was never completed or like the later bullet knives is it actually sometimes selling for less that it cost new?
Thanks.
