How authentic does this knife look to those of you who know more than me ? I'm a little suspect of the ink stencil " RC5" ... All comments are welcome.IMG_6265.jpegIMG_6264.jpegIMG_6263.jpeg

I don't think anything on that knife is fake...I think that is a later stamp, but then again, Remingtons aren't an area of expertise for me.

The ink on the tang though, that's not an official stamp either. That is often a sign of a salesmans sample, although they were most often marked on the blade, and not the tang like that one...

Thanks for commenting. I'm encouraged to hear that. I spent more than I'd like to have on it.

I agree with glennbad, knife is not fake. According to the pic in Stewart and Ritchie's guide to Remington knives, RC5 is the correct pattern number for that knife.

I am not an expert, but it looks legit to me as well.
It’s overall in great condition, nice find!

Here is my Remington RC5. I think I read somewhere that Remington did use inked pattern numbers on some of their knives? I also recall reading somewhere that the straight line stamp was an indication of a knife made on contract for Remington? I am not sure of either.
