I saw a Remington Swift-Lokt 2 medium sized folder at a local gun store. It is on sale for $30. The blade is AUS8 and shaving sharp out of the box.

Does anyone have one? Any opinions?

I doubt your gonna hear much about a knife of that quality on this forum. as a general rule of thumb most knives marketed by gun companies are not very good (there are exceptions such as H&K and wilson combat But do yourself a favor check out companies like benchmade, spyderco and boker for a good entry level knife. hope you find what your looking for.

p.s entry level knives to look at for you are the spyderco tenacious the boker trance and the benchmade griptillian all are very well regrded here on the forums.

It was my first modern knife. It works for light duty EDC. I would still save another $10-$20 and go for something like the Tenacious or some of the new Kershaw offerings. Maybe a Buck Vantage Pro.

There are some killer knives for about $40 out there theses days

I am carrying a Kershaw JYD II composite. I saw the knife while browsing and it looked decent and is made in the USA. Sometimes the exception proves the rule.

I just saw a Youtube video that says it is made by Camillus. It just may be the exception.

yeah i guess sometimes it does but why you would want to take that chance when you can hit spot on with another brand is beond me. is there something that appeals to you about this knife in particular?

No, you are probably right. Just wondering if it is a diamond in the rough. You never know, someone might have responded that it is the best knife under $100. Never hurts to ask.

It's not a diamond in the rough :)

I bought the knife for $36 on Amazon. I have been using it as my EDC for the past month. The blade has held up pretty well. It is still shaving sharp, as it came. After using it, I have stropped the knife.

Deployment is fast and smooth. I use the flipper.

No blade play and it locks up tight.

Not too crazy about the rubber inserts. They are not very grippy and I think they look cheap.

The clip works and is understated. Some may not like that it does not have a tip up configuration. Doesn't bother me.

Overall, I like the knife and am glad I bought it

That's the beauty of the hobby, everyone has their own opinion, their own likes and dislikes. One of my favorite knives in my collection is a Puma damascus folder that would be considered "junk" by many knife junkies, but the action is smooth as butter and fit & finish are excellent. Congratulations on your find, glad you like it!!

I have the same knife which I bought as my first AO. It still sees pocket time even if I have other knives I can EDC. The edge is real sharp and thin, which makes it a good, though lightweight cutter. The liner lock is pretty sturdy, considering the price point.

Congratulations on your new knife, even if it was made by a gun company, I share the sentiment that it is a good knife. :)

Also, Remington has been making knives for quite a long time now, so I wouldn't doubt their production capability just because they're a gun company.

Also, it is impossible to give a honest opinion of a knife until you try one. If one says a knife is junk and has not used it, they should also make that point clear. A guy might want to find out who makes them and where they are made.

I have the medium and large one. It is a good knife, but is the same as the Camillius which you can find cheaper. The price you are quoteing is actually a deal for this model ( but average price for the same model with the Camillius name on it). If you like it gte it as the price is fair.
