I acquired this blade at auction the other day. My concern is there is no UMC marking on the blade so I can't date the approximate manufacturer year. Also it says "stainless" and I don't believe that is from the 30's as claimed. Any info would be appreciated thanks. If I can figure out how to post pictures I will

You will find instructions on how to post pictures in Tech support.

This is what the book says about the RH134.
Blade length 5"
Overall length 9 3/8"
handle: Leather washers
$***.**
Blade stamped "stainless"

I didn't put the listed the value because;
1. The book was copyrighted in 2005. I doubt the listed values are correct any more.
2. you have to have a gold membership or higher to talk about knife values on this site.

OK. Got the pictures up and I can take more if I need to. The blue scales on the handle are faded to almost black. The blade looks factory new to me, but to be fair I'm not sure what I'm looking

What book?

It appears to match the black and white photo in the book. The specs I listed earlier are for Remington made 1920 to 1940 era knives.
The book is, "Remington Knives Past & Present"

Well sweet! It's a original Stainless remington RH- 134! Thank for you help. Why do you think it doesn't have the model stamp on the opposite side as the rem. Logo? And does looking basically like a new knife help the value? And can the blue be brought back to life in the handle?

It's just a different stamp, Remington had 10+ of them in various configurations. Sometimes they are tied to changes in the company, other times it just seems a stylistic choice. That straight line stamp seems to be used mostly in the late 20's. A lot of marketing for the RH134 is in that 1927-28 period, stainless being pretty new to the outdoor knife scene.

Don't touch the handle, it's in great shape right now. You don't want to chance any swelling, etc.....

The tang stamp looks a bit off, as in the font is different. Could be just made at a later date though.
The couple I've seen have Remington and Stainless on one side and RH134 5" with the Remington UMC circle stamp on the back....but some knives made later on by DuPont didn't have the model number on them.
Here is a link to some pics of another RH134

The blue color has changed from oxidation. Not much you can do about it.

Thank you, I saw that knife while looking for info on this one. The font looked off to me and then the missing info from the other side of the blade. I think it's wild that this knife hasn't been used in almost 100 yrs

So the ones I have seen from dupont say dupont on them.... is it safe to say this is a early 20s remington made by remington?

So is it safe to say this is a mid to late 20's remington umc RH-134 made by remington? In pretty much new condition? The holster had some cracking on the band the holds it in but otherwise unremarkable
