I picked up some knives in trades today, went to a smalltown local gunshow, and a powwow. I just can't stay away from camp knife folders, and have found some really neat ones. Two that I got today had great walk and talk. I picked up the following Remingtons. R1, R2 and an R4. These appear to be from the 80's. The R1 is going to be a gift for the doctor that saved my little brothers life, when he was a baby he flatlined. Now, he is going to do a surgery on my father. We're hoping he can work that magic again. He's a duck hunter, and my father wanted to get him either a doctors knife, or a bird and trout folder. The R4 is going to go into my EDC rotation for a while. Not sure about the R2. I can identify the main blade, the serrated sheepsfoot and the choke tool. What is the fourth tool, it is shaped like a Philips head screwdriver?

The other camp knife I got is a John Primble camp folder, with a really nice long nail/matchstriker pull. It is stamped 2335 with a star underneath on one side, and JOHN PRIMBLE, underneath that, BELKNAP INC. John Primble is stamped on the blade itself. This knife has excellent fit and finish, walk and talk, and the bale is solid.

Can anyone tell me about the R2's tool, and the Primble? Thanks.

The Remington is 440A Steel. The tool you are asking about is used to remove the pin that holds the trigger assembly on a shot gun. Also the choke tool does not work on Mossberg or Winchester guns.

The Primble was made by Boker USA. I love Primbles with the Slant Bolsters and alot of them were made by Boker USA.

You got two classics there.

I have a soft spot for John Primbles, but have never seen an old US made one.

Here's a Primble 3-spring whittler. The knife is marked USA, but the box says China. Having said that, it's a real handful of knife with 3 good sized blades. Jigged bone scales, NS bolsters, brass liners & pins.

It was shaving sharp out of the box and the walk & talk are top drawer. The pattern code is 30 000JP(GE5) and it came to me from Gloria & Ben at Pocket Knife World in Warrior AL. Funny - I could have sworn they were in Louisville KY. Good job I checked.:o
