Anyone own one of these? I've always been fascinated by them. It was a pump action centerfire rifle with a tubular magazine designed to permit the use of pointed ammunition. They got eclipsed by semi-autos, but I think they could make a comeback in the current regulatory environment. I think Remmington could design a pretty cool Scout Rifle based on the Model 14.

I know a coupla guys who have 'em. They are pretty neat. I especially like the take-down feature. Unfortunatly they haven't been made since the 50's, so I doubt that Remington will be building any "Scout" types anytime soon. You'll just have to search the shows and dealers and build your own.

Yea, I knew the Model 14 and it's variants had been discontinued. I've just got a real soft spot for pump and lever action rifles. I'd also love to see that kind of tubular magazine on a Model 94 clone chambered for .308.

I really liked the IMI Timberwolf in .357, and the Model 14 et al provide rifle caliber performance in a similar package. If anyone is unfamiliar with the Timberwolf, it was a slide-action .357 rifle with a tubular magazine that operated much like a shotgun. They were marketed to Police Departments back in the revolver days. The argument was (1) LEOs were already familiar with the operation of pump-action shotguns and (2) the Timberwolf chambered the same ammunition as the service revolver.
