Wow those lines on the Falcata are very defined.

Such a wonderful piece.

I salute you, HI!

This sword is way to nice. If I could have found a single legitimate need for it I woud have grabbed it. I spent twenty minutes trying to find one. :)

wow, i've been waiting to see a nice falcata here for a LONG time. wow.

So I take it this would be the most epic machete ever created and it could chop down some small/medium trees?
Or is it more of a show piece? (all those "sword" comments make me pause :) )

at least in the past, some people have done *some* chopping with this model

but really, it's for screaming "this is sparta", and zombies...

WOW, Haven't seen a Falcata in a LONG time.

Do I really need another???

Jack: AFAIK, all HI swords are functional. It'll probably survive chopping down a tree (although NOT covered by the warranty), and lighter vegetation and animals would be no problem.

Yoooooowza - that is one beautiful piece! Looking at the rivets, it looks like the tang is shaped completely with the handle! That's insane! Must have taken a LOT of work to do it like that...
Someone better snatch this thing up!

There's an old story (that I'm probably messing up) about Uncle Bill asking Bura why the HI Dhankutas were made thicker than he originally expected (as they're primarily ornamental and would probably not see usage). Bura essentially responded that the owner might at some point have to defend himself and his family with it or use it for an unexpected scenario and he would not want any HI product to fail during such usage.

That said, this can be said about pretty much any HI product... even if it's intended to be ornamental or a showpiece and isn't covered under HI's warranty, it's still going to be tough as nails

I can only speak for the one I have, and on it, the tang is a full, exposed tang, and yes, it follows the "umbrella handle" shape of the grip area.

They really do a great job on these.

If only the producers of 300 knew about these!

The falcata is a forward-curving sword used by the Celts of Spain, before the Romans rolled in; while it isn't a precursor to the Khukuri, it's a close cousin. HI has had it on the list for a while.
