Remoil versus Tuf-Glide?

I have Remoil and am thinking about buying Tuf-Glide because it does not attract dust, but does it give the same smoothness if applied in the pivot of a folding knife?

I have used both products. I find that Tuff-glide does a great job of protecting against rust and tarnishing but its not a great lubricant. NOTE: I have only used the Tuff-glide pre-oiled cloths and not the liquid they have available in a bottle. The liquid may do a better job of lubrication. I find that Rem-oil has to low a viscosity and does not stay where I apply it. I use Breakfree to lubricate then I wipe down the knife with a Tuff-glide cloth.

i have used the liquid tuff glide and the rem oil and imho the tuffglide might be a bit better for lubing, but its very little difference at all, if ya are expecting nite and day difference ya will be disappointed.

breakfree is good on a lotta things but on knives with very close tolerances, like say a microtec makora OTF auto, breakfree is too thick, MT says to use rem-oil on OTF's but i use tuffglide on mine and have for yrs with no probs, on something like a BM rukus or 710 for example it wont matter much if any.

i use tuffglide on most everything but i could do just fine with rem-oil too, 6 of one/half dozen of another lol.

Over the years I have tried many different lubes starting with 3 in one oil in the seventies. Progressing to Hoppe's gun oil, WD40 (yes, I know it is more of a water displacement than a long lasting lube), then on to CLP Breakfree, Rem Oil, Tuff Glide, Ballistol and Mil Tec. And last Benchmade's Blue Lube and Cleaner. With most of these lubes I did not see much difference but the wet lubes attract dust and lint pretty quick on folders. I thinl Ballistol is a good all round lube and cleaner that is suppose to be fairly non-toxic. Mil Tec and Blue lube are my favorite dry lubes with Blue lube really being the best of these two. Blue Lube makes folders work smoother and open quicker. All work fine some a little better than others. Give them a try and let us know what you think. Oh, I heard that Ezzox is suppose to be real good but I have not tried it.

I don't like Tuff-Glide as a lubricant. The stuff gummed up a couple of my knives' locks, my Gerber Bolt-Action most notably, and that irked me too much.

Rem-Oil is pretty thin and I like something a bit thicker, so I use Miltec most often these days.

I have used Tuff-Glide for a year or two now and it works great for rust prevention and as a lube. I don't think its possible for it to muck up any locks since it does not have any Oils Or Silicones in it. It uses mineral spirits to carry their active lube/rust preventative, then the mineral spirits evaporate.

I have noticed if you use it for the first time it actually cleans out all of the old oils and dirt that have built up in the knife and may appear to be gummed up. But after it cleans them out, the knife is much smoother. Also you don't have to use so much. I think in this country we think if you can't see the oil running down the side it's not oiled yet.

If you have the cloth, notice when it dries out the cloth is not sticky or greasy. If you use a hoppe's cloth and some of the others when they dry out they are sticky, and it must work the same on what ever else you use them on.

Don't mean to offend anybody off, just my experience with Tuff-Glide.

Tuff-Glide leaves a waxy coating http://www.sentrysolutions.com/sentry_solutions_faq.html

Supposedly, this coating can be removed with common gun-cleaning solvents - I suppose so, if you can get in to scrub the surfaces. I've got two knives that have yet to be rid of the "coating" after repeated cleanings. I'm irked.

militec is good too but its too thick for some applications like OTF autos, i dont thinbk it works as well as tuffglide on a lot of my knives though, works great on guns FWIW,

i've never had tuffglide gum up anything or leave a coating which ya cant wipe off, thats weird.

Tuff glide, I use it on knives, fishing reels and guns. No problems and works better than anything else I've tried. So much so that I dont use anything else other that tuff glide, tuff cloth (both verisions), sentry solutions clean bore, sentry solutions hi-slip grease and gunzilla cleaner which is the new non toxic gun cleaning liqued. No problems and not much mess or chemical residue. Doens't smell as bad either. Let me state this all of my pistols, most of my rifles, all of my knives and most of my reels were never cleaned with anything else before this stuff so there was no cross contamination so to speak. Don't know if that makes a difference just thought I would let everyone know in case that was a question.

I have definitely had Tuff-Glide liquid gum up the pivots, especially on coated blades.
At first I thought maybe I was using too much, but, using very little produced the same sticky results.
I t works well until the mineral spirits dries up.
Too bad, I liked the idea, I just didn’t like the product.

I have been using Corrosion X for some time now. I tested it against many of the usual lubes in a salt water bath test. It protected better than any other liquid lubricant.

I've used tri-flow a few times and it's great at first but I always have problems with it collecting lint ... Especially in my MT DOC

I get best results from BM Blue Lube.....sparingly.
Tried Tuff Glide and after the carrier dried it slows down the action on my knives. Cleaned it out with Ballistol and stopped using it. Maybe I over did it......might give it another shot.
