How To Removable scales

Can anyone recommend a specific removable fastener system for the NMSFNO scales? I've seen the nice looking Torx and similar mods, but have been stumped as to which size is needed and where to source them. I'm tempted to just start ordering an assortment of various sizes and tossing whatever doesn't fit...but figured I should ask here first

They are .250" hole size. You should mic your handle thickness and account for about .2-.3" indentation for the countersunk holes to get it flush or just under. Mags would put you around 1", standards about 3/4" thick at the outer surface of the tube fastener holes.

Anyone found a reliable source of stepped threaded barrels/standoffs? It seems like putting the shearing force of any misdirected blows to the scales onto a barrel, rather than a screw, would be ideal.
