Removable thumbstuds for knives that don't have them

A while back, online I saw thumbstuds that you could attach to the spine of a blade by tightening a screw to squeeze the spine and hold it on, for use on blades that don't come with thumbstuds. Please help me find a place to buy these, or at least the name of them.

On a related note is there anything out there like these, but a thumbplate (like cold steel uses on some of their knives) instead?

I use these a lot.

The one listed at Usaknifemakes is fine. A liitle smaller, a little more refined.

There is also this one: http://www.jaysknives.com/customknives_4.htm. A little bigger, a bit more knurled, a tad bit stronger.

I just ordered a couple of the ones from the auction. We'll see what those are like.

I've been interested in these, never tried one, figuring turning a set screw into a hardened steel blade would not be a permanent mount. Do you drill/punch a declivity into the blade somehow, use Loctite on the stud?

If it's going to be permanent, drill out a small dimple where the screw goes. Won't have to worry about it falling out.

They used to sell them at the Buck Factory Store to fit an 1/8" thick blade. The set screw requires an Allen key which is included in the package. The slot is off center with the set screw in the long side. The thumbstud is knurled and chamfered. I replace the blued set screws with stainless steel set screws.

If you want it to stay on, put some red Loctite on the screw before you tighten it. You'll need to hit it with a flame if you ever need to remove it.

I think they are called a one arm bandit. Smoky mountain knife works used to sell them a couple years ago.

Something like this?
