Removal of black scale from mill?

Just got a 3ft piece of S5. Wasn't descaled and too long for me to soak in something (U try to convince my wife to let me use the tub to soak in vinegar:grumpy.

Angle grinder is only other way, huh?

Sorry, never worked with a piece this large before.

Angle Grinder or milling machine. That is going to take a while. Next time order decarb free or ground finish. Mill scale will be removed for you.

Get a piece of 3 or 4" PVC pipe and cement a cap on one end then fill with about 3 gallons of vinegar,slide another cap on the open end.

Actually got a little fancier with mine,I put a slip by threaded coupling on top and got a screw in plug.Works Great.
