Hi all, needing some help with my first K390 LB. I can't seem to figure out what caused this white discolouration on my knife - doesn't look like a patina or rust, almost like a chalky fingerprint but it will not wipe off! Anyone have any suggestions?

Alcohol/clorox wipe, if that does work...

Flitz and rub lightly.

Good luck!

If using fritz, rub it along the grind lines. It would be less apparent. Go moderately.

Looks like some tape or sticky residue. I'd try a bit of alcohol and see if that removes it.

Looks like a palm print. My understanding is that K390 is not a stainless steel (low chromium content). Therefore it might be possible for the salt/chemicals in your palm print to cause a little corrosion.

As far as the white coloration, different steels will react differently to different chemicals.

Thanks for the advice all! No dice with the alcohol, not sure what it is. Will try some flitz or simichrome next...
