Hello all,
Fairly new here. I've got my first game warden coming this week (brown g10 with sage green coating). I am planning to strip and sand it because I prefer the satin look. I know that it is recommended to leave the coating under the scales intact because of corrosion. So my question is, after using a paint stripper, has anyone found a good way to sand the visible infi (even the sides) without scraping up the g10 scales? Thanks!

I don't see how it can be done and look factory without removing the scale... You could bead blast it or something

I've stripped a few SR101 knives- I used Citristrip, let sit for 24 hrs, then wire brush - powered and hand, scotchbrite and sandpaper to get it off. Works pretty good. I strip coating off on the tang as well. I dont worry about scratching up scales, so I dont mask them off or anything, and they handles look fine to me. I cant really tell that they have been abraded that much. I think all of mine are micarta scales though, so may not have the same results.

If you are worried, maybe mask off the scales and just use sandpaper and scotchbrite by hand.

I stripped a Busse OD green coated FFBM several years back... I used EZ-Strip and got it all over the green linen micarta. Your probably safe with the citristrip.

Years later... Still awesome, and look even better worn in.
