Hey folks I'm brand new here so go light on me until my skin toughens up a bit. :)

I have an old Buck 112, 1973 model. The blade is junk and needs to be replaced, so my question is. Can the blade hinge pin be driven out or do you have to drill it out.? If I drill it out where can I get a replacement pin and what size should it be?

Thanks for helping this old man out.

Send it in to Buck; they'll put a new blade in and refurbish the whole knife, for a very reasonable price...

DDawg,

Everybody plays nice on this forum. Welcome.

I would 2nd Ed's suggestion. They do a wonderful job on blade replacements and rehabs. You'll think you have a new knife. Go to www.buckknives.com and send it in to Warranty and Repairs (I believe, double check that by calling customer service).

If your determined to do it your self you can but.............
I would not unless you have a 1 ton arbor press to punch to pivot pin out clean.
But, you can drill it if your a brave soul. Use a tiny bit. The replacement rod is 1/8 brass.

Also if your blade that you want to replace with is not from that period the you probably will have to do some metal removal from the backspring's locking lug.

ChickenTrax posted some good pictures of this very issue. I'll see if I can find them.

All that said, send it in is the best way to go.

Hey Dawg, Welcome to the forum.Yes like Flatlander said .Send it to Buck.
Somebody on here took there apart  and it was never the same.
Maybe , Trax's will be along shortly with more infro for you.

I would send it back to Buck but I want to put a damascus blade in it. I have the blade and if Buck will install it I would be glad to send it to them. Is it posssible that they would do that in their custom shop?

Dawg,Welcome.I'd call Buck first on that.If they won't contact Leroy Remer,he will.
He, may even have a close year model blade to go back in it.But your set on damascus.
So, go for it.You may even have a segua(shedua)wood frame,1973.More rare.DM
