Greetings
This is my first post on this forum, and I hope I chose the right category to post. Anyway, here goes ... I recently purchased a Bark River Bravo 1 and have come to the conclusion that I do not like the firesteel ramp. I am aware that BRKT can remove the ramp for you if you send the knife to them. I live in the UK and it could be many weeks before the knife returns if I choose this option. I was wondering therefore if anyone has attempted to remove the ramp themselves and if so, what pointers / tips they could offer ?. Thanks for any input !. Regards, Joolz

This probably isn't the correct forum for this post, so it may get moved. That being said, just use a grinding wheel and take it off. Go slow, and dunk the blade in water every couple seconds so it doesn't get too hot.

Yep just take your time. Stay within your skill set. You know I think the bravo looks GREAT with a bit of gimping in place of the ramp :D

Lets look for someplace better.
How's about the Maintenance and Tinkering Forum?
Moving there now...

Yep, removing it with a grinder is entirely possible. Belt grinder is quite a bit better than a wheel-type and will leave a more standard scratch pattern, but doing it to rough shape with a grinding wheel, then using a hand block to work the last bit down and even out the scratch pattern is also entirely do-able.

And even if you DO manage to get a scruffy-looking job, they can fix 'er for you at the Spa. :)
