I have a Victorinox SAK Huntsman that I've had for almost 20 years. I carried it quite a bit while working on a farm during high school and it has certainly seen better days. I found it recently and thought I might try to clean it up a little. It has pocket lint, dust and other bits of debris inside it. I put it in alcohol in an ultrasonic cleaner at work to try to remove some of the nastiness. I've also noticed that one of the handles is raised a bit and it appears that debris has worked underneath the handle as well. I'm wondering if there is an easy way to remove the handles without destroying them. Anyone have experience removing and/or replacing handles on a Victorinox?

Just take the tweezer and toothpick out, and you can pop it off by prying it, but when you put the scales on you may need a little glue on it if it is loose. Another option would be sending it back to victorinox, they clean it, sharp sharpen the blades and replace the scales.

My experience has been that if you take the scales off, you will have to glue them on or they will be loose. You can buy new scales cheaply that will snap right on, you can even upgrade to the deluxe scales with the pen slot or a set of stayglows wich glow in the dark.
