Is there a way to safely, (for me and the blade) to remove the micarta slabs? After that, what can I use to fix them back on?

Thanks in advance.

You can use a 1/4 inch drill bit ,( thats the same size as the tube fasteners ). Just drill the head out and drive the rest of the tube with a punch.

As for putting it back on , I havent got that far yet....

randuchi, or ban maby both have put up post's on how to attach the tube fastner's with a vise and dowels. hopefully they will be along to answer your question's. good luck and post's some pic's.

Be very careful drilling out the tubes. You don't want the knife to start spinning and shred your hand.

Thanks guys. I think I'll leave them on. I appreciate all the advise. The reason I ask is I have a Sasquatch with the regular handles. I like the way the NMSFNO with hand-shaped handles feels. So, I was going to remove them and sand them down. Also, one scale is attached slightly higher than the other, so I'd thought I'd take care of that at the same time. But, it's a user (probably my favorite) so I don't need it to be perfect. I'll just beat the heck out of it and then send it to Ban or another Jedi-Mod-Master to have it converted into a convex light saber.

A drill press with a sharp drill bit at a very slow speed. It was really easy when I took mine off.
