is it ok to remove the creator's name from a handle, as long as you don't mind the small scar it makes on the handle?

i'm just wondering because i have a work knife with a logo i really don't like on it. and i would rather it be gone. it's not on the surface though, it's a litte recessed.

so the 2 points, is it OK to do that and will it hurt the knife's balance or shape significantly?

Unocide, it depends on how you intend to use the knife. The first question that comes to mind is "What are you trying to hide?" This may not be fair, but that is what anyone who sees the knife will ask. If try to sell it, the erasure would raise questions about your ownership as well as lower the value of the knife and any LEO would wonder what was being covered up. All-in-all, in our paranoid world, and especially for a young person in DC, I would leave well enough alone and not mess with it.

that's a good point. it would look like i was hiding something. It is a user knif that i intent to run into the ground. but the logo is really ugly.
i guess i'll just put up with it and then when i've successfully run the knife into the ground, i'll be able to get a new one with a prettier logo.

George is right. It seems a little on the foolish side, but it's yours to do with as you please.

I'll just mess up the logo really bad with a screwdriver!
