What do you guys use to remove rust from INFI? Just got back being away for months and rust specks are showing on the handle area

tuf cloth works too (as long as the rust is superficial like yours sounds like it is)

I took a wire wheel on a 4" grinder to get rid of some surface rust on my sob comp finish. Must of put it in sheath a little wet. Within 2 weeks the top part of saber looked pretty bad. Nothing deep tho.

edit, it may have been more than two weeks

For BBDC or Competition Finish, scour with Hoppes No. 9 bore solvent and 0000 steel wool. (Also works for coated blades on rust on scratches/worn patches where steel has been exposed.)

For Satin, scrub with Mr. Clean Magic Eraser dipped in Hoppes No. 9--makes satin INFI look new. (Rub in the same direction as the belt-finish grain runs--don't scrub cross-grain.) Also removes ground-in crud like tree bark/sap.

Rust eraser works great.

I gotta try that.

But the nice thing about INFI is that any rust, is literally surface and I have never ever seen pitting. One thing I have noticed is how easy SR101 wants to rust. I like satin, but in my SR101 I keep the coating on. SR77 is much more resistant to rust than SR101

Agreed that SR77 is more rust resistant than SR101...But INFI is head and shoulders above both on rust resistance..

Mothers metal polish is what I used on mine when they got some rust on them in Puerto Rico. Bought some Flitz that I used as well
