Remove Wire Clip - Bottomed-Out Torx

I'd like to start this off by saying I'm an idiot. The clip loosened up and fell off my Caly 3 a while back and I ordered a replacement (couldn't find it). I installed the new clip and used blue Loctite and tightened it up real nice to make sure it wouldn't happen again...only realizing a couple days later that I set it up for lefty carry when I wanted righty.

I've tried to heat it up with a hairdryer to degrade the Loctite and remove the torx screws, but the hollow screw just spins when I try to loosen the other side...and since I tightened it up a lot, the bolt is bottomed out on the hollow torx head I can't get a second torx driver on the hollow side. What the heck can I do at this point?

It might be possible to add some localized heat.

Try touching a hot soldering iron to the bolt head for a second or so, not that long. If that doesn't work, try for another second or so.

Sorry I couldn't be of further assistance.
Best of luck.

Valve grinding compound added to the stripped torx head and torx bit helped me with a stripped screw on my yo2

It's not stripped at all, it's just that because I tightened downy the bolt so much, the end of the torx bolt completely fills up the recess of the hollow bolt (where the second torx driver would fit), so I can't get any purchase with a second torx driver on the hollow bolt. I tried to take a photo but it doesn't really show the problem.

OK

Having been in a similar embarrassing situation myself a few years ago here's what I did .

You will need a fine tipped Soldering Iron
Some Superglue
Some Acetone ( Nail polish remover )

On the side where you cant get the Torx driver bit in far enough to get a good grip you have to Superglue the driver bit onto that screw ( don't over do the glue , you cant afford to have it spill over onto the scales )
As someone else mentioned , get a soldering iron with a fine tip , place that on the other side of the screw to heat the Loctite ( its a fine line to tread , but you have to get the screw hot )
Gently and carefully try undoing the screw .
The super glued driver bit isn't super strong so don't try turning that , its just there to add a little bit of assistance to stop it turning , turn the other side where you can get the driver all the way in .
If your successful like I was you then use the Acetone to neutralize the Superglue and remove the driver bit .

Good luck

Ken
