Yes the stock sheath rattles, and yes it is stitched into the edges. But how can you eliminate the rattle in the stock sheath............ Replace it with a kydex insert. Here is how you remove the plastic liner.( the kydex insert is up to you)
This is all you need. A fondue skewer and serrated edge sharpener(and maybe a hammer), and about an hour

Be sure to pick a fondue skewer in a color that you normally use(otherwise your wife will find out). Sharpen in between the tines until it will cut paper smoothly. Insert skewer between plastic and cordura. tap with hammer and voila! You are now ready to make your own kydex insert.( I made a video of it, but it was all off frame....oh well) here you can see a succesfully removed liner w/o a botched sheath

Good stuff bro, what you gonna do now?

Thanks, I'm gonna mold some kydex so that it retains w/o the strap. Then I'll try to figure the best glue(Anybody know?). Then I'm gluing that badboy in there.

I think that Gorilla glue epoxy stuff might do you well in this regard. It kinda expands, so you wouldn't need a lot, and is (from what I have heard) still a smidge flexible, which would help with attaching it to a nylon sheath I would think.

i'd drill a hole in your insert, and then perhaps either tie it in, or use a grommet, or even a nut/washer like they do on the SpecOps sheaths? don't forget a drain hole too.

or ... double sized gorilla tape? you might want to remove it later. or slip a couple $20s in between the sheath/liner. for emergency stripping or something.

Thanks, I might try that.

I have been considering using a rivet, but I think it might pull through. Also, with a BK9 you don't need 20's for emergency stripping!(maybe gas though)

who the hell has a fondue skewer handy? That's like saying "all you need to do this mod is a live Velociraptor and Stalin's left ring finger bones." :)

I thought you were married. Go to the dollar store and buy one. Or, gimme your address and I'll mail you mine. But I've gotta have it back before fondue night or "the jig is up.":)

Great info, don`t forget a few drain holes and I would use a chicago screw in the bottom to keep it in place. BRL that was funny as hell.

oh hell I just found a fondue pot and four skewers in the pantry. nobody tells me nothing around here.

I have the Raptor but shipping from Canada is rediculous!

Thread I found while looking for BK7, similar mod.
It went okay for me but my sewing is terrible so that's the only reason it looks Frankensheathd

It's nice to see a a good tutorial. Hopefully it will keep people from ruining their sheaths, and get rid of that rattle.
