Removeable steel liners?

I know some people don't like steel liners in some knives. I haven't and can't try yet, but I know a lot of knives like Spyderco's have nested stainless steel liners. I was wondering if you could actually take the liners out and still be able to screw in the knife together?

It would not be wise or safe to do this. There are plenty of Spyderco models that have no liners:
Tasman Salt - H1
pacific Salt - H1
93mm Rescue - VG - 10
Native - S30V
Just to name a few.

Knives that have liners are not designed to be used without them.

A successful linerless knife design incorporates stiffer, stronger scale materials than knives that depend on liners for their strength. So if you remove the liners from a knife, the resulting knife will not be very robust.
